Results of a study in the UK said the
levels of chronic stress can be
reduced if smokers quit smoking. This contrasts with the tendency of smokers who use the excuse of stress as a trigger of cigarette consumption.
From studies involving 469 people who try to quit smoking after heart disease, it is known, after the patient is a year away from cigarettes, they are feeling the stress level decreases.
According to some researchers from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, the
stress level was not changed in cardiac patients who still smoke. Their research was reported in
the journal Addiction.
"Smokers tend to see smoking as a tool to manage stress, and ex-smokers back to smoking
sometimes, believe that it is to help them survive the stress in their lives," said researcher Peter
Hajek told Reuters Health recently.
Numerous studies show even non-smokers tend to have lower stress levels than smokers.
Although the reason is unclear, can be interpreted, they are more vulnerable to stress tend to smoke. Smoking can also cause stress
and even long term. In his research, found 85% of Hajek 469th
person to believe that cigarettes help them manage stress. In fact, half say it helps them to withstand the stress.
The researchers said the findings reinforce the notion that addiction to cigarettes is a source of chronic stress.
Someone who smokes 20 cigarettes a day means having 20 kinds of stress in those days.
Once a person is stopped, and able to pass through, 20 times of stress will be reduced each day.
Stop smoking, other than beneficial for physical health, it is also good for mental health.
Therefore, you smokers, should not delay anymore, soon is stop smoking.!
